Personal Anecdote:
Running was never a competitive pursuit for me in high school. I joined the track and cross country teams mainly because my friends did. When my father and I made a pact to run the Dublin Marathon together two years later, my motivation hadn’t changed. While he trained diligently, I hardly trained at all. On race day, I predictably “hit the wall.” Somewhere in the late miles, my father passed me with a simple, encouraging “Keep going, Eamonn.” Then he vanished ahead, as I was left to deal with exhaustion and a deep sense of embarrassment.
People often ask if my dad ever considered waiting for me that day. My answer is always the same: “Thankfully, no.” That humbling experience turned out to be a turning point. I spent the next year training with purpose, focused on one goal—beating my dad in the marathon the following year.
Through that experience, I became a competitive athlete and found a lifelong passion for racing. It has taken me around the world and introduced me to incredible people. That humbling moment in Dublin sparked a drive I never knew I had—and as a parent, teammate, colleague, and coach, I strive to inspire that same inner fire in others.

Specializations: Jumps, Hurdles and Combined Events
Personal Anecdotes: I became a heptathlete in college. I had to learn how to hurdle, jump and throw. (was a sprinter in HS). My first hurdle race was a 55m race at UofA. Was a complete disaster and I was dead last. I was furious. My coach approached me and I told him, “That will never happen again!”. He thought I meant I was going to quit. I actually meant I would not lose like that again. I spent the next week focused on the event. The following weekend I had my first heptathlon. I won the hurdles, broke the meet record in the hurdles and ended up winning the heptathlon. I share this story because in life we are often faced with difficult moments that we have a choice in how we will respond. You can let the moment defeat us or we can defeat the moment. This is an example that I chose to defeat the moment. I share this story with my athletes every year to teach them and remind them that they too will have moments like this and the choice is theirs to make.

Personal Anecdotes: Running can be life-changing. This foundation has significantly shaped both my family and professional life.
Hi there, I am Coach Lee, I am the girls cross country coach at Shadow Ridge and this will be my 8th year working with the SRHS cross country program. I also served as the SRHS boys head track coach for 4 years. I started distance running in high school in the late 1960’s when seeing runners out on the road was a rare occurrence. Running has been a passion of mine ever since then and has provided me the opportunities to attend college and to travel and compete across North America and Europe. Now it’s my turn to give back to the sport that has given so much to me.
I was primarily a middle distance runner, competing in everything from the 400 (440yards) through the 5000.In High school, I was a 4:15 miler and 9:12 2-miler. My college best performances were: 3:48 1500M, 4:04 (Mile), 13:27 3 Mile, 13:58 (5000M)
My academic focus was Biological Sciences, with a strong interest in Human Physiology and later Exercise Physiology.
My coaching career began here at SRHS 8 years ago. We have had a successful program, winning the boys and Girls Dysart District cup every year while advancing both teams to the state meet every year. Many of our runners have gone on to compete at the college level, including last year's NJCAA small school cross country champion, Jackson Bland.
