The Royer Running Index (RRI) has been created as a means of assessing an athlete's training discipline, emotional maturity, consistency, resources, awareness and implementation of evidence based principles of training and many other things. While the majority of the 75-items asked relate to mastery of training habits, this measure (when reviewed and improved upon) is anticipated to help an athlete, parent of an athlete, or a coach expect better outcomes as compared to individuals not engaging in this index. It is further anticipated that a runner scoring very high with this measure likely is improving in a steady manner as they are able to show consistent improvement in many areas of training resulting in progressively larger 'wins'.
As a means of assessing a parent or partner of a runner the Parent & Partner version of the RRI was created. This 75-part measure was created with the intention of identifying current areas of a runner's parent or partner's strengths and needs. Each point is based on a mixture of current scientific strategies as well as the art of training and racing.
The Runner Personality Profile: Completing this 30 question profile questionnaire can help runners better understand the traits, motivations, and habits that shape how they train and compete. It can also help coaches align training approaches, communication style, and development strategies with an athlete's natural strengths and needs.
