We are a dedicated group of coaches, runners or leaders who are passionate about the sport of running. Our presenters are often experienced runners themselves. They are volunteering their time and expertise to enrich the local running community. This clinic is a platform for them to freely share valuable tips and established principles to help runners improve their performance and enjoy the sport for years to come. Our presenters are not getting paid or reimbursed for their efforts; their motivation is purely to educate, connect, and inspire the running community.

Postural Alignment greatly affects our ability to do what our bodies are designed to do; MOVE!

Background and Experience: I am a board-certified pediatric sports medicine physician with over 13 years of clinical experience. Currently, I serve as the Medical Director for Pediatric Sports Medicine at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. My professional foundation began at Rutgers University, where I earned my degree in Exercise Science, followed by a Pediatric Residency at Vanderbilt University. I later completed my Sports Medicine Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s, where I specialized in the unique physiological and developmental needs of youth athletes.
Achievements: I played Division I soccer at Rutgers University before shifting my focus to medicine, and I am a New Jersey All-State honoree for Soccer and an inductee into the Rancocas Valley Regional High School Athletic Hall of Fame. I am a recreational runner, having completed the Nashville Half Marathon with a 1:42 finish. My current 5K time of 20:52 (roughly a 6:43/mile pace) keeps me competitive in the masters divisions 🙂
Specializations: As a national speaker on pediatric sports medicine, I focus on the intersection of clinical care and athletic performance. I recently published my book, The Performance Blueprint: A Sports Physician’s Guide for the Next Generation of Youth Athlete, which serves as a practical resource for families on sleep, nutrition, strength, and recovery. My work is dedicated to helping young athletes optimize their health and longevity through evidence-based strategies in sports performance and injury prevention.
Physical Therapist; Coach; Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric PT
Background and Experience: Besides maintaining consistent personal running endeavors, coaching at the Middle School (Del Sur Middle School 2011-2012, Lancaster CA) and High School (Chandler HS Assistant Coach 2012-2013, Shadow Ridge HS Volunteer and Assistant Coach 2022-2025), I have attended numerous national-level coaching clinics including LA84 and Boulder Running Clinics locations. I had the pleasure of personally taking various exercise-science classes from Dr Jeff Messer when at Mesa Community College which sparked my interest in evidence based training.
Achievements: NJCAA All-American in the 3k Steeplechase at Mesa Community College 2009. MVP of BYU-Hawaii NCAA D2 Cross Country Team in 2011, running the 4th fastest 10k in school history. Two-time PacWest All-Conference honors in cross country. While having a loving family with my wife and three children, I have been able to utilize current training strategies to set new running PRs across all running distances from 4:29 (1600m); 15:44 (5k); 31:36 (10k); to 1:10:55 (Half Marathon) at the ages of 36-37 years of age.
Specializations: Doctorate of Physical Therapy (2017); Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy (2021); USATF Level 1 Coach (2022)
Personal Anecdotes: Running can be life-changing. Beginning in my junior year of high school, the journey evolved from having no college ambitions to earning a full scholarship to run for a D2 program in Hawaii, ultimately becoming the top runner on the team. This foundation has significantly shaped both my family and professional life.
Hi there, I am Coach Lee, I am the girls cross country coach at Shadow Ridge and this will be my 9th year working with the SRHS cross country program. I also served as the SRHS boys head track coach for 4 years. I started distance running in high school in the late 1960’s when seeing runners out on the road was a rare occurrence. Running has been a passion of mine ever since then and has provided me the opportunities to attend college and to travel and compete across North America and Europe. Now it’s my turn to give back to the sport that has given so much to me.
I was primarily a middle distance runner, competing in everything from the 400 (440yards) through the 5000.In High school, I was a 4:15 miler and 9:12 2-miler. My college best performances were: 3:48 1500M, 4:04 (Mile), 13:27 3 Mile, 13:58 (5000M)
My academic focus was Biological Sciences, with a strong interest in Human Physiology and later Exercise Physiology.
My coaching career began here at SRHS 9 years ago. We have had a successful program, winning the boys and Girls Dysart District cup every year while advancing both teams to the state meet every year. Many of our runners have gone on to compete at the college level, including 2024's NJCAA small school cross country champion, Jackson Bland.
Professional Title: Head Boys Cross Country Coach; Girls Assistant Cross Country Coach; Boys and Girls Track Distance Coach; Summer Camp Coach; Private Running Coach
Background and Experience: I have been involved with running since I was in 3rd grade. I ran in junior high, high school, and college. I ran for Gateway Community College one cross country season and Mesa Community College one track season. I’ve also had 20 years of running experience. Seven years of experience as a coach, 1 year of private coaching, and 6 years coaching track and cross country over at Westwood High School. I’ve also completed a 100-mile race among many other ultramarathons, qualified with a 2:52 to run in the Boston Marathon, and still run currently. I've spent over 1500 hours in the last 3 years from reading to listening to podcasts, running talks or speeches, and attending running clinics. I read a minimum of 12-16 books a year.
Achievements: Athletes that I’ve coached and their times:
Kai Espinoza-Goliski(junior year times)- 800 - 1:53; 1600 - 4:10; 3200 - 9:17; 2024, 3200 Division 1 state Champ; 4th place 1600 open state; 6th place open state 3200. 5k PR- 15:40
Daniel Reese: 5k improvements: 33minutes (freshman year) - 16:24 (junior year)
The girl's team qualified for state the first year I started coaching them(9 girls on the team). The boys team qualified for state 2 years in a row (12 boys on the team both years)
Hosted a free summer XC running camp for the past 5 years; Free Website offering advice for high school athletes. Managed and hosted ‘The State of Running’ podcast for the last 3 years.
Specializations: I pride myself in finding solutions for every problem that my athletes or myself face. Developed exercise programs for hips, strength, and core workouts. All bodyweight exercises. I come from the ultramarathon side background having done it for a decade now. Over the last year and a half though I have decoupled myself from any training system and started to individualize all training to the specific athlete needs. The main goal that I focus on is to make sure everything that the athletes do for strength and maintenance work is proactive and preventative work instead of reactive work to injuries. I’ve also learned to use material from other successful coaches and exercise nutritionists to supplement the knowledge I lack and provide this for my athletes. Every season the athletes are required to purchase new shoes and get a blood test to check their iron levels.
Personal Anecdotes: Senior year I went from 19 minutes in the 5k to 16:30ish after collapsing on a long run, being taken to the hospital, and then having a blood test done to find out that I was anemic.
